    Death benefit amounts payable under this Article shall be payable apart and separate from the payment of the member's accumulated contributions under the Retirement System on the member's death pursuant to the provisions of subsection (f) of G.S. 135-5.  (2025-11, ss. 1(a), (z), 3.)
